About this blend
Red Bourbon is an heirloom — the variety the French brought to these highlands around 1875, prized for the cup and then abandoned for being difficult to grow. It nearly disappeared. It survives now on just a few farms, which is most of why this one costs what it does. Washed clean rather than honey-processed, so nothing gets between you and the variety itself: hazelnut, soft fruit, a sweetness that needs no help. The gentlest of the four and the most particular — strength two, best as filter or pour-over, for when you're in no hurry. The Sunday of the range.
